Hello, I’m Lenae (rhymes with Renae).
On my ninth birthday Aunt Em gifted me the classic Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. What neither of us knew then was how that little book would plant a big dream. Because when I read the story of little women: Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy, I started to dream of being a writer like Jo.
Not that I believed it was possible for someone like me. I’m just an ordinary girl, living a very ordinary life in a little house on the Minnesota prairie. And since Laura Ingalls Wilder already covered that story, I didn’t believe there was room for mine.
But God is a God of love, grace, and surprises. And the One who plants crazy dreams, gives us grace to step into them. And I count it all joy to write and speak about these loves:
Faith. All is grace! Because Jesus is grace. And I seek to grow in His grace on my gravel road and all dusty places.
Since 2003 it has been my humble privilege to share my faith through writing and speaking as Curriculum and Content Director for GEMS Girls’ Clubs—equipping women and girls to live radically faithful lives. If you have girls in your world, check this out: www.gemsgc.org.
Family. Wife to Mike, mom to six kids (three daughters and three sons-in-law who are all my favorites), and Nana to five precious grands. After Jesus, these people are my world.
Farming. Farmer Mike makes writing from our grain and livestock farm in west central Minnesota my reality. For over twenty years I’ve been a monthly columnist for The Land—a regional farm magazine. Plus it’s grace to contribute to the Minnesota Bridging the Gap blog.
These are the gifts of grace that fill my heart and days. And just for random: I love books, bracelets, and button-down shirts with cardigans. Plus early-morning runs on gravel roads.
My sweet spot is talking about God with girls of all ages. And even if you’re not a girl or care much for God, you are welcome here. There’s always room at this farm home for you.
Looking forward to growing in grace with you,
